CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - A check for almost $2.4 million was dispersed among 45 nonprofit organizations Wednesday morning from the 24-hour Day of Giving telethon.
In November, Coastal Bend residents gave back to those in need. Each charity that participated was eligible to receive almost an $18,000 match.
The Coastal Bend Community Foundation said they were amazed at how much money was raised in 2017.
Non-profit organizers said at times it is financially difficult for people to donate after the holiday, so the money from Day of Giving is vital for the beginning of each year.
