OLD SAN PATRICIO--Much needed rain fell throughout the Coastal Bend last night and those storms actually produced a tornado in San Patricio County. Nobody was hurt, but it scared some families living in northern part of the county.

The National Weather Service is calling it a weak tornado. It touched down around 9:20 last night.

Meterologists are calling it an EF 0 tornado. The twister traveled at a speed of 65 to 75 miles an hour. It measured 25 to 50 yards in width and about a half mile in length.

The tornado uprooted old trees and left behind branches, but jumped over this one house.

"I was scared to death," said Sandy Collins, an Old San Patricio resident. "I was really afraid. I thank God it did jump our house because he was with us. It just got the trees and that's all that matters that we were safe."

The twister also left an uprooted tree near the Collins home. Residents report the damage forced the homeowner to stay somewhere else for the time being.

Some other viewers reported seeing funnel clouds in Nueces and San Patricio County, but those clouds never touched down, so this tornado in old san patricio was the only twister last night.
