Thursday afternoon was a wet day for part of downtown Corpus Christi, but it wasn't because of rain. A water main broke near Starr Street and Lower Broadway. It caused water to gush down the curbs in that area.  Work crews told Kiii News that many of the pipes below downtown streets are old, some dating back to 1910. Hot, dry weather and old pipes can be a recipe for gushers like this one.
