The city of Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation is inviting all parents to enroll their children in swimming classes to stay safe this holiday weekend. Together with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the parks and recreation department  is urging all Texans to be on guard against one of the leading causes of death among infants, toddlers and young children.....accidental drowning.   At Collier Municipal pool, young children are wrapping up their training session which ends friday. Parents wanting to enroll their kids have until sunday to prepare for the next class which starts Tuesday.  for eight days a total of thirty minutes each. The cost is fourty dollars per session and students will get basic training and swim lessons and progress up the levels by skills. Parents are encouraged to sign up  and students are young as two years old can be enrolled. With lakes, pools and the gulf waters at reach to young coastal bend children, the most important thing to keep in mind for parents is .....make sure you always know who's watching them and make sure to know your kids ability in water.
