In Jim Wells County, a reward is being offered for a missing K9 officer.

Ivo, a four year old German Shepherd, was taken from his handler's home in Premont, over the weekend.

The dog is worth about $6,000 and is trained to find narcotics. Though, the Sheriff says he would be useless to the public.

If you know the dog's whereabouts, call Crimestoppers in Jim Wells County at 664-STOP.

Premont has a police officer with multiple DWI's. This news should not be out of the ordinary for the incompetence of that dept. I hope the dog is found safe. The officer should be punished along with the dog-nappers for neglecting to protect the dog.

It's sad when our K-9 officers are threatened by drug dealers, because they are out there to get drugs off the streets. I hope that whoever has him has the sense to take him back unharmed because I know he will be charged with a felony if found with the dog.

The dog wasn't taken from the handler's home; he was taken from the kennel in the back yard that he was left in when he wasn't working. Who keeps a $6000 canine who is a social pack animal out in a cage all the time? I have dogs worth at least that much and they work and are in my home and not left out to be stolen or poisoned or shot. It isn't useless to eliminate a drug sniffing dog in south Texas!

Well the dog was residing in Premont. Enough said. Hopefully they find it and the handler takes better care of it.
