On the eve of Halloween when hundreds of kids will be out trick or treating a big announcement at Corpus Christi Police Headquarters regarding local sex offenders.

"During the month of September, officers conducted 767 compliance checks. They identified 30 sex offenders who were deemed no compliant," said US Marshal Carlos Alvarado with the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force.  "In October, arrest warrants were obtained for these violators."

 Operation Registered Sex Offender Check is what they called it The month long sweep was led by the US Marshal's Service.  But, it included teams of other state, local and federal law enforcement agencies. They spent October looking for unaccounted registered sex offenders and ended up arresting 19. They're accused of not complying with their sex offender probation requirements. Officers say most were not living at their registered address, and in some cases officers seized items of child pornography. 

But,14 sex offenders remain at large.  They're accused of failing to comply with their registration. They range in age from 57 to 20 years old.
