Corpus Christi police are investigating a roll over accident where they say the driver fled the scene on foot.

It happened shortly before midnight. Officials say residents coming home from trick-or-treating found the black Ford f-150 abandoned on Clarkwood and County Road 34. Police say they believe the driver was ejected from the vehicle and thrown into a nearby field.

Officials say they went to the registered owner's home but no one was there. The investigation into the accident is on-going.

Police are also investigating another roll over accident and what caused the drive to lose control.

"She fell off the embankment on the highway so she is very lucky to be alive," said Lt. Nicholas Kless of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "The vehicle fell off the highway off the embankment about a good 30 feet."

The crash happened a little after 1 a.m. on the Southbound access road off 286 and Tarlton. The driver is said to be okay but officers are investigating whether she was drunk driving.

It just upsets me everyone assumes drinking is only to blame, when studies have been show and repeatedly presented that talking on the cell phone is about twice as dangerous as drinking. It shows that texting (which is the new thing to do) is where it really gets bad, So while the obvious points to drinking, lets not rule out other major factors but we should just all stand up and support passing laws to ban phones while driving, Tougher DUI consequences. lets start by example and drive safer.

Driving privileges need to be more safely handed out. Continuing Ed. is required in many professional fields that both: do and do not; endanger the lives of others. Why not driving?

I agree with Cchyeah, when she says not to make presumptions. Also that is very mean of someone to say, "To bad they weren't killed". Sorry but that was uncalled for.

If in fact they were drunk, then they deserved what they got. Nice that no one else was hurt, waddya bet there was a cell phone involved though. There are way too many repeat offenders out there and thats where the laws need to be changed. If a person is indicted and convicted of DUI, the license should be revoked for at leasst five years. Hardship? Too bad, you should have thought of that before you got behind the wheel.

So almost everyone who has commented has already presumed these drivers were drunk, what ignorance. While its more than likely both incidents involved alcohol, there was not a single statement made saying alcohol WAS a factor. And then someone says "Too bad they weren't killed", not only presuming they were drunk but judging them like they are a better person... do the world a favor and just shut up

Oh, god. Who writes this stuff? It's a good thing you don't need a college degree to report the news... o, wait. You DO. I guess English and Grammar aren't enforced. Back to the point at hand. Yes, I agree. It's a very good thing those people didn't kill some innocent drivers as is usually the case.

Thanks to God both these drunk people are okay. I hope they had a good time, because the cost of it is going to be expensive. This a lesson they should have learned before drinking age.
