Ft. Hood Gunman's Family Reactions

Richard Longoria

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - An Army psychiatrist suspected of
opening fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood cleaned out his
apartment before the rampage that left 13 people dead.

Neighbor Patricia Villa today described how Maj. Nidal
Malik Hasan stopped by Wednesday and yesterday and offered her some
of his items -- including a new Quran.

Hasan later allegedly opened fire at a processing center for
soldiers -- fatally shooting 13 people and wounding 30. A police
officer returned fire and wounded Hasan, who remains hospitalized.

Villa says Hasan told her he was to be deployed today.

Soldiers who witnessed the rampage reported that the gunman
shouted "Allahu Akbar!" - an Arabic phrase for "God is great!"
- before firing.

Hasan's family today said his alleged actions were "despicable
and deplorable" and don't reflect how the family was raised.

Gov. Rick Perry has ordered Texas flags lowered to half staff
until Sunday because of the Fort Hood massacre.
