A local man and his grandson out flying a kite near Oso Bay discovered something that gave them quite a surprise. They found what appeared to be human skeletal remains. That find brought police to the scene and has had the Medical Examiners office making a ruling in the case.

Jose Escobedo Jr. told us that his grandson actually spotted the skeleton and when the youngster pointed it out to his grandpa. Escobedo told him it was just deer bones. Escobedo met us out where his grandson found the skeleton. Of course, he tells us he knew good and well that the bones were human and he quickly called police out to the scene.

He thought this could have been the scene of a murder. That's because he found several bullet casings about 90 feet from the remains. Escobedo: "I thought right away they were human bones but I didn't think it was an Indian bones because the bones were clean and had some red on them and the teeth were clean as well."

We called police investigators who told us that they were informed by the Medical Examiner's office that the bones were those of an Indian. They don't consider it a crime scene but an Indian burial ground. Whatever it is, we discovered what appeared to be more bones out at the site. We found part of a skull and other body parts. We contacted a member of the south Texas indigenous people who came out to the scene to bless the bones and the area.

Me and my friends were the first to find these bones. We call the police and these 2 officers came and told us that they were just some deer bones. And now I heir of this at the same place we find some bones I know there the same ones because the oly reson them bones are all clean and all pulled out was because of me and my friends we dug them out after the lady officer told us they were just deer bones. So I hope those 2 officers feel really dumb after see this on the news.

these bones belong to someone, they need to be identified & family made aware of loved ones remains so to have a proper funeral. I pray for the family they can have some type of closure. I pray for justice if it was at the hands of a killer this person went missing.RIP

As a young Boy Scout and growing up in the 1950s, we were always taught that the entire Coastal Bend Area and namely areas near OSO golf course were sacred burial grounds. In the late 80s this was again proven when work on Ennis Joslin was interrupted because a burial ground was discovered along areas where dredging occurred.

Obviously they where more recent as the finder said - they were too clean. WORK SMART..... Susan Olsen (Mother of Missing Bradley Olsen 1/20/07)
