SINTON--The long-awaited, state-of-the-art, skatepark is finally open. For the last two years, Sinton skaters have been waiting for this.

As we reported, Sinton High School senior Chandler Nunez started a petition and lobbied decision makers in Sinton to build this $70,000 facility.

Chandler got it done with the help of a grant from the Toni Hawk Foundation,

"Well, it's great and it gets us off the streets and keeps us from getting hit by cars.and we have a place to go where cops won't bother us," said David Aken, a Sinton skater.

"It's really good they built something because we've been getting kicked out a lot," said Gabriel Mendez, a Sinton skater.

The skate park is located at Speck Eakin Park in Sinton. It was scheduled to open up last month, but rainy weather pushed it back a month.

Natural Gas

Should the city of Corpus Christi privatize its natural gas system or keep it under city ownership?

  • Yes. Sell it and let private business run it.
  • No. Keep it as a city department.
  • I don't know.
