Boy Scout Troop #3 have been working overnight and in the early morning hours to prepare for their 41st annual chicken barbecue fundraiser. Scouts and volunteer leaders began preparation for the barbecue last night by seasoning the chicken and worked on the portions for the plate.

This fundraiser is the only event the scouts work on in order to help them with purchasing camping equipment, back packs and tents. This troop provides all the scouts with needed materials and the scouts only need personal items. In order to secure the needed funds, the scouts count on community support for their barbecue. The barbecue started with cooking 200 chickens and now, this fundraiser has successfully grown and scouts and volunteers are cooking 2600 chickens halves.

Many of the past scouts return to help out the troop. Two Eagle Scouts from the same troop who are now in college, have returned to give back to the troop and help other scouts continue to succeed.

You can pick up a plate on Thursday, June 14th at the First United Methodist Church on Shoreline from 11:30 am to 1:30pm or you can dine in or pick up a plate from 4:30pm to 7pm.
