ROCKPORT-- Many Rockport residents are mourning the latest news from Iraq after they learned one of their hometown heros died.

Rockport is a small community where everybody knows everybody. Whenever a soldier, dies like this, it's something that hurts everybody.

Tonight in Rockport, it was a quiet night and only a handful of people knew about Specialist Garrett McLead's death.

Over at the Aransas County Courthouse, the flags were at half-staff to remember the fallen soldier. We talked to some locals who knew McLead and his family and others who just learned about this tragic death.

We learned tonight from our interviews McLead was a cool person to quote one friend. We also found out he was involved with the band and the tennis team. They say he was a nice young who got along with everybody.

As we stated earlier, Rockport is a small town. Word of his death will spread quickly around town. Once everybody hears about his death, friends said the community will rally together to support the family.
