These are the 10 long guns federal agents seized during a raid in Alice. This trailer home in the 1-thousand block of Wright Street was where officers found those weapons along with Reno Gonzalez. The 30 year old man had gone to New Hampshire in April to help out a family who was in a standoff with federal authorities over tax evasion charges. So, what did Gonzalez do to get in trouble with the feds? Carlos Treviso with the U.S. Marshal's Office explains,"It involves charges of threatening federal officers, aiding and abetting the compound in New Hampshire where the tax evaders are holed up and possession of weapons." The weapons found on Wednesday are the same ones Reno's dad, Jose told us about back in June. Jose was going to go to New Hampshire and help out as well. Here's some of what he told us back then,"He has gotten himself into a position where he is right. I feel he is right, even if he is wrong, I wouldn't want him to die." While his son came back alive, he's now in the Jim Wells County jail facing those federal charges. One of 4 people indicted for their involvement in the New Hampshire standoff. Treviso added,"I don't know what they're involvement is other than they had been up on New Hampshire they were staying at the compound and apparently based on the charges they were assisting that gentleman up there in the compound." As for the weapons, the government is checking to see if they are legal or not. We're also told a large amount of ammunition is still inside the trailer and won't be removed. Including 50 caliber bullets which can go through most anything including the bullet proof vests of the federal agents who showed up on this day.
