Residents in parts of Live Oak County and Jim Wells are experiencing a "black out".  A snake could be to blame.  In Lagarto, residents are going without power and air conditioning.  The Heat index reached 105.  Many residents showed up at the Lagarto convenience store to seek relief from the hot weather. It was one of the only places in town with electricity. Power officials with AEP Texas say the outage is a result of a blown transformer.  They believe a snake may have gotten in there and put a kink in the system.  Close to 23-hundred residents had been waiting since ten in the morning for power to come back on. Crews have restored power at least half of those residents.

To be honest snake fences don't keep everything out. That would be why you don't see them everywhere. Also ya 24 hrs without power sucks but they were out there for 24 hrs working, missing time with there family or anything else they have to do on the weekends. The problem with people today, you just can not survive without your creature comforts. stop whinning and deal with the problems givin at hand, to many people out there think they should be handed on hand and foot, and for what just so you can complain about every little thing in the world. People grow up and just be thankful for what us Americans have, cause it could be alot worse......

You would think they would put snake fences up especially around those areas but to be honest a small baby snake can get in there and cause havoc. As for paying the bill--yeah they are all over you if you are a day late but to bad if you are out of power due to an electrical outage. It would not be so bad if when you call you actually have people on there that know what is going on so they can update you after several hours have gone by without power. I am not talking about the "there are seveal crews out there finding the problem" I am talking about what caused the outage and an apporx time to look at that everyone will be without power so plans can be made whether or not to stay or get a hotel.

CP&L put up snake fences around the Rockport substation to keep snakes out of there. I wonder why they didn't carry it out at the other substations?

Natural Gas

Should the city of Corpus Christi privatize its natural gas system or keep it under city ownership?

  • Yes. Sell it and let private business run it.
  • No. Keep it as a city department.
  • I don't know.
