A closer look at Share Your Christmas

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The most prominent Christmas party in the Coastal Bend is coming Friday, and Share Your Christmas is the chance for individuals to donate food or cash to help those less fortunate during the season.

Ricardo Villanueva was found sitting and waiting for his turn at the Food Bank's Bread for Life pantry. Villanueva said it is hard to make ends meet because his social security is not that much.

"I don't have any food that's why I come down here, and it helps me a lot to help me get by for the month," Villanueva said.

Villanueva's number was called and volunteer Aaron Jones was the first to meet and greet Villanueva. Jones has been helping out at Bread for Life for the past five years and knows how vital this pantry is to everyone who shows up for help.

"It means that they belong, it means as a country these are brothers and sisters and it's a time to share not only Christmas but 24 365 days out of the year," Jones said.

Eventually, Villanueva was able to start shopping, and he filled up his basket with enough food for the month.

"These people are great. Once get better I'll volunteer to help out also," Villanueva said.

If individuals would like to help ensure that there is plenty of food in the pantry and across the Coastal Bend, people can merely donate canned goods or cash Friday during Share your Christmas.
