CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Whether you like romance, action or comedy, chances are you enjoy going to the movies, and Corpus Christi is getting a brand new theater this year -- the Alamo Drafthouse!
If you have been to the southside of town, you might have caught a glimpse of the construction project between Yorktown and South Staples. That's where the new theater will be located.
The concrete has been poured, walls built and the shape of the theater is forming. The November deadline for opening had been pushed back, but the operations director said the new theater will open by the end of the year.
One of the biggest draws of the new theater, according to Corpus Christi residents 3News has spoken with, is not the seven-screen theater itself, but the bar.
"The experience that Drafthouse brings to Corpus Christi is unlike anything else there right now, and it really creates this love for movies and entertaining others, food and fun, and all different kinds of aspects that you don't get at another theater," said Kristen Wheaton, vice president of operations for Alamo Drafthouse.
