CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Softball players hit the field Sunday morning to help raise money for the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation.
The Slam Softball Fast Pitch organization hosted it's first "All Cancer Awareness Softball Tournament" at the Greenwood Softball Complex.
Slam Fast Pitch is a group of 7 and 8 year old girls from the Corpus Christi area who love the game of softball.
The organization provides an opportunity for the players to improve their softball skills, as well as learn valuable life lessons about teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, perseverance, respect, and other valuable skills that they will draw upon for years to come. The tournament features 480 participants from the surrounding Corpus Christi area.
A portion of the proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation, where funds raised are matched dollar for dollar by M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
