ARK rehabilitating two underweight Kemp's Ridley sea turtles

PORT ARANSAS (KIII NEWS) - The Animal Rehabilitation Keep in Port Aransas is full of all kinds of birds and marine life that are in various stages of rehabilitation, including Kemp's Ridley sea turtles.

Program Coordinator Alicia Walker showed 3News a couple that are currently under her care. Both were females and should be in the Gulf of Mexico for nesting season, but they are under observation because they're underweight. The plan is to re-hydrate the two and feed them plenty of squid, crab and shrimp.

The hope is to release them in the coming weeks.

The ARK released another female Kemp's Ridley back on March 25. A monitor was placed on her. You can go to seaturtle.org to track her progress as she moves around the Gulf of Mexico.
