Body found confirmed as missing teen from Wisconsin

The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Tuesday morning the identity of the teen whose body was discovered Monday as 13-year-old Gabriel Carpenter of Elsworth, Wis.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Tuesday morning the identity of the teen whose body was discovered Monday as 13-year-old Gabriel Carpenter of Elsworth, Wis.

Beach goers alerted emergency crews Monday to the body of a teen in the water about a half-mile from Fish Pass on Padre Island. Police believed it to be that of 13-year-old Carpenter, who had gone went missing Sunday evening. He was last seen about 200 yards out in the surf near Mile Marker 185 at Beach Access 3.

Corpus Christi Police Department investigators said that three brothers had gone out into the water and had a hard time getting back to shore. Only two made it back.

The Medical Examiner's Office said the official cause of death is drowning.
