Car seat safety inspection hosted by TxDOT

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - A unique checkpoint was set up Friday to make sure children are traveling safely down our roads.

The Texas Department of Transportation teamed up with the Corpus Christi Police Department and Driscoll Children's Hospital for a free child safety seat inspection. It also served as an educational experience as TxDOT taught new recruits how to be car seat inspectors.

"We are actually conducting a class today to teach new people to be technicians and be able to do inspections for parents," said Stephanie Christina with TxDOT.

Texas law requires any child younger than age eight to be in a child safety seat whenever riding in a passenger vehicle. If you would like to set up a car seat inspection, you can set one up with TxDOT or Driscoll Children's Hospital.
