CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Area kids looking for a safe place to play sports and build friendships now have a new place to do just that.
Thursday was the Grand Opening of the Corpus Christi Police Athletic League's new facility at 702 South Brownlee. CCPAL is an organization run by Corpus Christi Police Department officers and is specifically for kids looking for a positive place to put their energy, like playing basketball, volleyball, and baseball.
The best thing is, it's all provided at no cost.
The goal is to keep kids off the streets and provide a good example for them to follow.
Funding for the new facility was made possible through a dove hunt held the last eight-years by Valero. In all the project took 15 years to become a reality.
