CCPD:Driver strikes fire hydrant, flees scene

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII-NEWS) - A driver runs into a fire hydrant and creates a terrible mess according to police.

The incident happened before 9:30 am Tuesday morning on Saratoga near Cimarron drive. According to police, a female driver was attempting to turn right on Saratoga boulevard when she struck the hydrant. 

Witnesses told police that the driver made no attempt to stop as she fled the scene.
Police officers say the driver is facing some stiff fines. Investigators say she caused around $15,000 dollars in damage. Luckily no businesses were not affected by this.
