City distributes free grease containers to residents

If individuals did not pick up their grease containers on Wednesday, they are encouraged to use paper towels to soak up all excess fats, oils, and grease then throw it in the trash.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The City of Corpus Christi's Utilities Department provided free grease containers Wednesday as a tool to easily dispose of all food waste that could prove harmful if sent down the drain.

"The fats, oil, and grease that stump down to the sewage even though you run it through the hot water. Sooner or later down that system it's going to stick down to a pipe and it's going to accumulate there," said John Byrum, Assistant Director of Wastewater in Corpus Christi.
