Coastal Bend receives more than $2 million for infrastructure improvements

CORPUS CHRISTI (CALLER TIMES) - The Coastal Bend will receive money to improve its infrastructure courtesy of the Texas Department of Agriculture.

In a news release Monday, Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the Coastal Bend will receive a total of $2,371,040 to be used on the projects.

The federal funds are administered through the department's Texas Community Development Block Grant.

The cities of Beeville, Driscoll, Freer, Premont and Jim Wells and Kenedy counties each will receive $300,000 for water or wastewater treatment systems. The city of Point Comfort, in Calhoun County, will get $275,000 for a water treatment system, and Jim Hogg County will receive $296,040 for street and drainage improvements.
