CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - A regional sports complex proposed almost two years ago could finally be passed today, and many are awaiting decision by Corpus Christi city hall.
A public hearing is set to take place later this morning. The proposed complex will have 14 outdoor fields, indoor courts, and a 5,000 square foot restaurant. City councilwoman Carolyn Vaughn told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times she sees this project generating revenue, an upside for the economy.
The location of the complex will be off Highway 286, which some residents say is too far off. Others are saying SQH Sports and Entertainment, the company behind the proposed project, does not have the experience to take on such a project.
A final decision will be made by officials following today's city council meeting.
