CALIFORNIA (ABC NEWS) - A criminal investigation is underway by California's attorney general into whether Wells Fargo employees committed false impersonation and identity theft.

The investigation follows a sales practice scandal that cost the bank's CEO his job. A search warrant and affidavit released by the State Department of Justice shows agents sought evidence related to allegations bank employees created up to 2 million bank and credit card accounts without customer's approval to meet sales goals.
