Dewboy Lister's family reacts to released body cam footage of fatal officer-involved shooting

Dewboy Lister's family speaks out about body cam release

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - On Friday, after careful consideration the Corpus Christi Police Department released body camera footage of a fatal officer involved shooting.

The incident happened last year on the night of October 19th.

Police officer, Jose Hassette pulled over 55-year-old Dewboy Lister.

The traffic stop eventually turning fatal.

The footage showing everything from the time Lister was pulled over up until officer Hassette fatally shot the man.

CCPD says they made this video public after receiving the go-ahead from the Texas Attorney General, then posting it online out of transparency.

But Lister's family doesn't agree.

After the public release of officer Hassette's body cam Lister's relatives are claiming this footage is not original and has been altered.

Chief Markle states that Lister's family along with local and federal officials were invited to view the footage, but the Lister family claims parts have been edited out and audio levels changed so you can only hear officer Hassette's voice during the struggle that lead to shots fired.

Although officer Hassette was never charged, the family says they are still searching for answers while grieving the loss of Dewboy.
