Domestic violence discussed during political forum

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Many candidates on this November's ballot were on hand Thursday to discuss topics that are on the minds of Coastal Bend residents during a political forum.

The forum was held at the Corpus Christi Police Officers' Association. Candidates were given pre-selected questions on domestic violence -- topics such as "How would victims be notified that their offender is being released?"

Frances Wilson, president and CEO of the Women's Shelter of South Texas, said the forum was a great way of finding solutions for many of problems.

"We've had a lot of events where we talk about the problem over and over again, and now I feel like people are looking for those solutions so that we can really move forward and end the problem," Wilson said.

The importance of voting was also one of the main topics discussed. You have until Oct. 11 to register to vote. Election Day is Nov. 8.
