Father remembers 2-year-old following tragic accident

The family of a a two-year-old boy that was struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon say he is now legally brain dead, but that his body is being kept on life support so that his organs can be donated.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The family of a a two-year-old boy that was struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon say he is now legally brain dead, but that his body is being kept on life support so that his organs can be donated.  
 
Police said a family member was backing out of the driveway when they accidently hit the toddler. Beltran was reportedly running to a neighbor's home when he was struck.
 
Following the accident, Beltran was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Alice and then transported to Driscoll Children's Hospital.
 
A chicken plate fundraiser is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at 1720 E. Main Street in Alice, Texas, in front of the Bealls shopping center. Money will go to help the family with expenses.
