Father Receives Burns to Face After Saving Children From Morning House Fire

House fire sends a man to a San Antonio hospital

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Around 4 a.m. Saturday morning, a house on the 4000 block of Shaw broke out in flames. CCFD says when crews got to the scene, they could see fire coming from a window on the front of the house. Firefighters say a father and his two children were inside and got out safely, but the father went back inside to try and extinguish the fire himself. He received burns to his face and suffered from smoke inhilation. Emergency crews have transferred him to the burn unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. No other people at the scene suffered injuries. Fire crews say the fire started in the bedroom, but so far have not found the heat source and are still investigating the cause.
