FEMA offering mitigation advice at Home Depot on South Port

Mitigation is the effort to reduce the loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters, and for it to be effective residents need to take action now.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - FEMA representatives will be at the Home Depot on South Port Avenue this week offering some mitigation advice for people impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Mitigation is the effort to reduce the loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters, and for it to be effective residents need to take action now.

"They ask one of these mitigation specialists, and we have various ways like, how do I keep my wallboard from doing this or that, how do I keep the water from getting in," Bob Porreca said.

Experts will be at Home Depot through the end of the week.
