Fire fighters battle early morning house fire

Fire fighters are working to determine what caused a fire that damaged an abandoned house.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Fire fighters with the Corpus Christi Fire Department are working to battle an early morning house fire. That blaze started just after 3:30 a.m. Monday at a home on 3rd Street near Craig Street.

Witnesses say they saw people running from the abandoned home just before flames were seen. Officials with the fire department say this is the second fire reported at the home in a year. They plan to file a code enforcement motion to demolish the building due to danger concerns.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
