Grocery delivery coming to Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI (CALLER TIMES) - Need milk, but don't want to stand in a store line? There's an app for that.

H-E-B stores is partnering with Shipt, an app-based service in 30 major metropolitan areas nationwide, to provide grocery delivery service to Corpus Christi. Starting Sept. 27, H-E-B customers can order groceries from Shipt's cell phone app or desktop website, according to a news release.

Delivery also will be available to residents of Port Aransas, Taft, Odem and Mustang Island, but only from H-E-B stores.

Through the cell phone app, customers can shop for any groceries, including fresh produce, meat, dairy or frozen items, note any food preferences (such as less-ripe bananas), and choose a one-hour delivery window before paying online, the release stated.

Memberships are available for $14 per month or an annual $99 fee. If you sign up for Shipt before Sept. 27, you are eligible to receive $25 worth of groceries. There is an additional delivery charge for orders less than $35.

The app will build a network of more than 100 shoppers to pull the items for delivery and deliver to Shipt members. For shopper job opportunities, visit Shipt.com and click "Be A Shopper."
