CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Soldiers stationed out of Fort Bliss are returning home for the holidays after deployment to Eastern Europe.

Members of the 10th Cavalry attack helicopter division arrived in Corpus Christi at Whataburger Field Monday morning in their Apache helicopters. In all, 24 helicopters are returning from areas like Germany and Poland.

The group has been overseas assisting with Operation: Atlantic Resolve, which is the ongoing effort to prevent Russian aggression in Ukraine along with NATO allies.

"We worked with everybody over there. We worked with Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians," 10th Cavalry Lt. Col. Chris Crotzer said. "We were up in Estonia for a little bit. Latvia quite a bit. Poland. Our particular group was in Poland almost constantly."

The group operated out of Germany helping train other units while providing support. After nine months overseas, the group leader said they are eager to get home for the holidays.
