Injured worker trapped in grain elevator, rescue crews dispatched

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - First responders rushed to the Port of Corpus Christi grain elevator Monday morning after a worker injured himself and became stuck several stories up.

It happened around 11 a.m. at the facility off Navigation. First responders said a 26-year-old man was at the top of the structure, some eight to 10 stories high, when he suffered a back injury. There has been no word on how that happened.

Paramedics actually had to be taken to the victim for treatment.

"They couldn't move him at the time because of his injuries," said Captain James Brown of the Corpus Christi Fire Department.

The injured man was taken to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital for treatment.
