CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - It comes as no surprise that traffic was not only bad on highways across the country Wednesday, but at grocery stores as well.
That was certainly the case at area HEB grocery stores as many of your neighbors were making last-minute purchases to prepare for Thursday's Thanksgiving feast.
Long lines were formed at the registers in the HEB on Saratoga Boulevard Wednesday. Shoppers said it had been pretty hectic, but they were getting everything they need for their holiday meal.
Some shoppers were prepared with lists and strategies to get around the crowded store, while others were just figuring it out along the way. Parking was also an issue for some.
Many customers said they were sticking to buying fresh turkeys and hams because it would be too late to begin thawing them out.
For the employees, it was all hands on deck as they tried to keep shelves stocked and customers happy.
