Lunch with A Cop kicks off at Gloria Hicks Elementary

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The Corpus Christi Police Department and the Corpus Christi Independent School District Police Department joined forces on Thursday to kick off a new program bringing students closer to police officers.

It's called Lunch with A Cop and began CCISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke and CCPD Chief Mike Markle attending lunchtime at Gloria Hicks Elementary.

The idea is to encourage police officers to go to various lunchrooms around the area and eat with the kids. Organizers of the program hope to create a positive relationship between the students and local police.
