More than 100 handmade 'Harvey Quilts' to be handed out to victims

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Members of the Coastal Bend Quilt & Needlework Guild met Thursday morning at the Ethel Eyerly Senior Center to show off some of the Harvey Quilts the group has made.

Over the next few days, the group will be handing out 125 of the quilts to victims of Hurricane Harvey.

"It's very important. The giving has been fantastic throughout the whole area," Community Service Chairperson Barbara Creager said. "We feel like the need is important that we contribute our quilts and put a little light and sunshine in peoples lives."

The group has been working on the quilts for the last year. They said they will determine who gets a quilt by going through local church organizations.
