More than 40 rounds fired in shooting that injured woman, and teen

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to a shooting Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Breckenridge Drive that left a 46-year-old woman and a six-year-old boy injured.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to a shooting Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Breckenridge Drive that left a 46-year-old woman and a 16-year-old teenager injured.

Police said they found upwards of 40 shell casings around the home and that bullets were fired at the house, going through walls, windows, and cars.

Neighbors said the tenants recently moved in, adding that several people have lived inside and many of them are children.

CCPD Lt. Jay Clement said although the victims claim they do not know why this happened, the amount of shots fired suggests otherwise.

"The house was definitely targeted," Clement said. "All the rounds we found were shot into the house and the car in front of the house, so whoever was shooting hit the target they intended to hit."

Neighbors said the individuals living inside often played loud music and they heard repeated arguing in the last couple of days.

"I saw four other children, small children, ranging from five and six to maybe 11 and 12, and they were actually sleeping with one of the victims, so by the grace of God they weren't hit," Clement said.

Police said they found video cameras inside of the home, but the cameras were not installed.

"We probably could've saw who walked up or drove by or something," Clement said. "We had officers walk all the way from one side of the block to the other, checking every house here, and there was not one camera on this street."

Clement said the case has officers stumped and they will have more police patrolling the area for days to come. If individuals have any information regarding the incident, contact police at 361-886-2600.
