Nueces County jailer arrested for assaulting an inmate

26-year-old Jasmine Lawson, a former jailer at the Nueces County Jail, has been charged with aggravated assault after authorities said she ordered an inmate to throw hot water on another inmate, causing burns to her body.

26-year-old Jasmine Lawson, a former jailer at the Nueces County Jail, has been charged with aggravated assault after authorities said she ordered an inmate to throw hot water on another inmate, causing burns to her body.
 
According to an arrest affidavit, the inmate that was injured had shouted inappropriate things at Lawson, prompting the attack. The report states the water was heated up in a microwave before the attack.
 
Surveillance video is said to show Lawson laughing after the incident took place. She now faces charges of aggravated assault and official oppression.
