Have you registered to vote, or have you moved recently? You will need to update your voter registration status if you did.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Have you registered to vote, or have you moved recently? You will need to update your voter registration status if you did.

As Kiii News Anchor Rudy Trevino reports, your friends and neighbors in Nueces County are turning out in droves to get registered.

"I think it's important that our country has someone good serving us," Cynthia Sanchez said. She registered to vote Monday. "Someone that's going to make a difference."

Their reasons for registering to vote are as wide and varied as the make up of our nation.

The voter registration office at the Nueces County Courthouse is seeing brisk business as the countdown to deadline nears. Hundreds of people throughout the day Monday stopped by to either update their addresses or register to vote.

The man in charge of voter registration, Tax Collector Kevin Keishnick, said the number of registered voters is up considerably.

"We've had about 7,700 address changes since July and we've had an increase about 4,000 new registered voters over the last gubernatorial election," Keishnick said.

If you need to register, you have until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
