CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - For the first time in nearly 50 years, U.S. crude oil production hit 10 million barrels during November.
Nearly 40-percent of the nation's crude comes from Texas, which leads the nation in oil and natural gas production.
Todd Staples, President of the Texas Oil and Gas Association, believes that this is a sign of resurgence in the Eagle Ford Shale and it sets up the Coastal Bend for even more petrochemical investments.
"Not only can we export crude and LNG, but we can also export refined product. So you have a double benefit in the Corpus Christi area where you refine the product, and then you're exporting the product abroad," Staples said.
Staples sees more activity in the Eagle Ford Shale and is aware of more investment plans in the area, but does not know precisely when the investments may be announced. He said President Trump mentioned infrastructure improvements, and that the legislative delegation will work hard for funding projects like the widening and dredging of the Corpus Christi ship channel.
