Pedestrian who was struck by vehicle dies from injuries

The man was identified by the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office as 50-year-old Stephen Campbell.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - A 50-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle Monday evening while crossing the street in the 4900 block of Holly died in the hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.

The man was identified by the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office as 50-year-old Stephen Campbell.

According to police, Campbell was wearing dark clothing and was not using a crosswalk when he was struck by a 47-year-old female driver. The driver did stay at the scene to render aid and called police after the accident.

Police said the woman was not at fault and is not facing any charges.

The Medical Examiner's Office said Campbell's official cause of death is pending an autopsy.
