CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - When disaster strikes, the Red Cross is one of the first organizations on the scene. Back in May, the group opened a shelter to help flooded out homeowners in Aransas Pass and Ingleside. A few weeks after that, there was another shelter opened in Kingsville for those needing help after a tornado ripped through the area.

To ensure that the organization is ready and able to respond to the next emergency, staff and volunteers from the Valley and Victoria came to the Corpus Christi Red Cross office for some training Thursday.
