CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The mom accused in the death of her 18-month old daughter was back in court Monday morning and entered a plea of not guilty.

According to a police affidavit, 19-year-old Chasity Herrera left her daughter, Arabella Sanchez, injured and without adult supervision for nearly 17 hours back in December. The toddler was found with bruising to the liver and several organs, including the heart. She also had bleeding under the scalp and brain.

Sanchez later died from blunt force trauma, according to the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office.

Investigators said Herrera could not explain the toddler's injuries. She is now charged with murder and endangering a child with intent for serious bodily injury. She is being held in Nueces County Jail in lieu of $1 million dollars and faces up to life in prison.

Trial has been set for March 27.
