Rockport resident confronts governor about Hurricane Harvey relief

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Governor Greg Abbott was confronted by a Rockport homeowner forced to live out of a travel trailer since Hurricane Harvey while he was in Fulton, Texas, Tuesday to get an update on recovery efforts.

"I have nothing. I'm broke," said Billie Kocian, a Rockport area fishing guide.

Kocian told Abbott that she is in a dispute with a contractor. Three months after the hurricane, she is not living in her home but in a small travel trailer in her driveway.

Here's what the governor promised her.

"We're going to get you the money," Abbott said.

Texas A&M University Chancellor John Sharp, who heads up the Governor's Commission on Hurricane Recovery, said that if Kocian or anyone else is being ripped off by contractors, the State will be going after them.
