Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, heads to Port Aransas schools

Secretary of Education Betsy Devos visits Port Aransas Isd.

PORT ARANSAS (KIII NEWS) - Betsy DeVos, the U.S. Secretary of Education, is scheduled to visit South Texas Wednesday morning. She will be traveling from Washington, D.C. to visit areas along our coast affected by Hurricane Harvey.

DeVos will be in Port Aransas.

She plans to meet with school officials from Olsen Elementary & Brundrett Middle School assessing how the department of education can continue to support recovery efforts.

From there she will travel to Houston.

DeVos was confirmed as the 11th U.S. secretary of education by the U.S. Senate on February 7, 2017 after being nominated by President Donald J. Trump.
