CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - A 20-pound turkey is enough to satisfy any hunger, but Angelique Guajardo knows not everyone is as fortunate as her.
"Sometimes the world is unfair, and no matter how hard you work, sometimes you don't always get what you feel like you deserve," Guajardo said.
Guajardo was born and raised in Corpus Christi and graduated from Caroll High School. She admits she grew up privileged and realized she needed to give back.
"Sometimes I stress about the little things, but I remind myself that it's not really big when it comes to people not having a meal or home to go to," Guajardo said.
Guajardo's passion for giving back first started with children living at the Salvation Army. For the last four years, she has dedicated herself to the "Kids Helping Kids" back-to-school drive.
"We get kids that are blessed and have the opportunity to have things to come out and help those who don't have things," Guajardo said.
Thanksgiving will always be a special time for Guajardo, which is why she tends to find herself at the Salvation Army's turkey dinner.
