Standoff Leads to IH 37 Being Shut Down in Both Directions for Hours

Traffic was backed up and completely stopped in both directions Saturday for over three hours on IH 37 near the Three Rivers exit, as the Live Oak County Sheriff's Department and Beeville PD dealt with a standoff situation.

THREE RIVERS (KIII NEWS) - Traffic was backed up and completely stopped in both directions Saturday for over three hours on IH 37 near the Three Rivers exit, as the Live Oak County Sheriff's Department and Beeville PD dealt with a standoff situation.
 
According to DPS troopers, a man was supposedly barricaded inside a home just off the Three Rivers freeway exit with two hostages inside. Initial reports claimed he had shot at sheriff's deputies. 
 
The Beeville and Live Oak County SWAT team entered the home to find no suspect andno hostages, but found a tunnel under the home that officers believed the man may have escaped in. 
Traffic opened back up on the highway around 2:30 p.m. The search and investigation continues to find this man.
