CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Roman soldiers were in place Friday along Williams Drive with whips in hand as part of the Stations of the Cross.

About 300 people watched the reenactment of Jesus' last day on Earth as a man around noon at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

For some the action got a little too hot for them, while others say it touched them deeply.

This tradition began during the pilgrimages to Jerusalem, which began around 312 A.D.
